Greenwashing is when companies market products as eco-friendly or natural without genuine sustainability. Here are 4 common misconceptions:
✓ "Natural" Means Safe: Not all "natural" ingredients are safe or eco-friendly. Some natural substances can be harmful or unsustainably sourced.
✓ "Eco-Friendly" Packaging: Just because packaging claims to be "eco-friendly" doesn't mean the product inside is. Always check the full lifecycle of the product.
✓ "Chemical-Free" Products: Everything is made of chemicals—even water! "Chemical-free" is a misleading term often used to create a false sense of safety.
✓ "Certified Organic" Confusion: Some products boast organic labels but still contain non-organic ingredients. Always read the entire ingredient list. Conversely, some companies operate organically but haven't gone through the expensive process of certification.
Bottom line...know your company and their products!
